Move, Nourish, Believe – 3 Steps to Wellbeing

Made famous by Lorna Jane, popular Instagram hashtag #movenourishbelieve is an encouraging start in the direction to make changes for the better for our health, wellness and happiness.  With 698,000 posts and counting it’s awesome to see so many people adopting this thought process and taking action in their lives.

With the upcoming NZ Fitness & Health Expo, we’d like to carry on the trend as we believe it’s extremely important to keep talking about and learning for the future of our wellbeing.

What does it mean to Move, Nourish, Believe?

According to the dictionary, ‘wellbeing’ means ‘the state of being comfortable, healthy, or happy.’

Here are 3 steps to follow to help improve your wellbeing:

1. Move

Not just for the super-fit, the act of bringing movement into our everyday routines can really make the difference in our general health. Put simply, ‘You don’t have to run a marathon to be active!’.

‘Move’ allows us to feel positive in any form of activity and movement introduced into our everyday lives. From taking the stairs or walking around the block. Get into nature and enjoy the fresh air, go for a swim – either with others or on your own. Join a sports team or learn a new activity.

Whatever your activity, encourage yourself and steer clear from judging yourself against others.

Wherever you are at with your personal goals you can do it. Share and encourage others to move forward.

2. Nourish

The dictionary describes ‘Nourish’ as ‘to provide people or living things with food in order to make them grow and keep them healthy’. It’s also described as a positive and motivational term.

Nourishing ourselves can be how and what we eat, a proactive step to take care of our diet to ensure we are healthy. It can simply be going to the doctor or dentist when we need to and taking care of our physical health.

It can also be that allowing time to do that particular thing we love.

So if you’ve been planning that night out or day trip or taking that course then find ways to nourish those ideas to the point of making them happen or even just allowing time to think about them. Engaging in areas of yourself in a positive manner can really boost your sense of wellbeing.

3. Believe

The brain is a powerful organ that can make or break us. Through our thoughts, we can literally be the obstacle in our paths to better wellbeing.

Believing in ourselves is an incredibly strong influencer in propelling ourselves forwards to achieve. So anyway we can implement feelings of belief in ourselves and our lives will really make the difference in how we live and our potential.

Believe in the possibilities – We all have the power to believe it’s possible, however it’s very easy to put a stop to almost all possibilities with our minds and we’re all guilty of it. We do it to ourselves and others and quite often with little or no proof.

We are almost auto-wired to discredit our potential. Fear is quite often a key feeling that can hinder us in our abilities. Taking note of negative self-talk against our own and others thoughts and ideas gives us the opportunity to make a change. It gives more power to positive thinking and therefore believing.

Visualising is a great tool to support the development of believing. Allow yourself to imagine what your goals look and feel like. This both inspires and creates a sense of movement and change in the mind.
